Biography

Thierry Goldwaser began playing the piano at the age of ten with Louis-Claude Thirion, but chose to interrupt his musical studies at the age of 17 to pursue an engineering degree, graduating from CentraleSupélec. He then began a professional career in computer science while continuing his piano training. During this time, he received guidance from Aïda Mouradian, Marie-Paule Siruguet, and Dominique Merlet. He also studied harmony with Isabelle Duha.
In 2005, Thierry won first prize at the International Competition for Great Amateur Pianists, as well as the audience prize. In 2010, he was also a laureate of the International Amateur Piano Competition in Berlin, which gave him the opportunity to play in the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic Hall.
Thierry performs regularly in recital, particularly as part of the Les Amateurs Virtuoses festival: in France (Paris, Cannes, Nice), Italy, the United States, Finland, Brazil, Hungary, China, and South Africa. During these concerts, he has had the opportunity to play with the late Brigitte Engerer, as well as in a piano duo with François-René Duchâble.
Thierry has also performed as a soloist with orchestra on several occasions: Rachmaninov’s Second Concerto at Salle Gaveau, Saint-Saëns’ Second Concerto in Seattle, Liszt’s Totentanz in Berlin, and in 2018 Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa.
Alongside his musical activities, Thierry Goldwaser currently works as an engineer for a startup in the field of artificial intelligence.
